Army Promotes Missing Ohio Soldier To Sergeant
Maupin Missing Since Last April

POSTED: 5:33 pm EDT April 4, 2005

BATAVIA, Ohio -- The only soldier the U.S. Army lists as captured in Iraq has been promoted to sergeant, his second promotion since he was abducted last year, the Army said Monday.
The promotion of reservist Keith M. "Matt" Maupin was effective last Friday, said Maj. Elizabeth Robbins, an Army spokeswoman at the Pentagon. Maupin was promoted from private first class to specialist after his disappearance.

He has been missing since last April 9 when his fuel truck convoy was ambushed by insurgents west of Baghdad.

A board with the 724th Transportation Company, Maupin's unit based in Bartonville, Ill., promoted him.

Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin needs your help now.  There is talk of changing his status from "Missing-Captured" (I don't care what they call it Sgt. Maupin is a POW/MIA!!!) to KIA-BNR and this is not acceptable.  Please call your Representatives and Senators and tell them that you will not stand by and let this happen.  Sgt. Maupin is a POW/MIA and until we have proof one way or another, his status must stay this way!! Please do not let Sgt. Maupin be forgotten as too many people tried to forget Captain Speicher!! They are both being held in Iraq!!! We sent them there and we want them back!!!
I found out that Sgt. Maupin's job at Sam's Club is still waiting for him...
if a company who could have hired somebody else can hold a position open for him, then we should be doing everything we can to bring him home.
Please visit Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin's site (run by his family) and offer them your prayers and any help that you can:  http://www.yellowribbonsupportcenter.com/
