I think these two pictures tell you what Rosie told me next, but I'll tell you anyway!!  She
told me that they were going to fly me and my whole family (all six of us!!) to Pearl
Harbor so that I could see the Memorial (The USS Arizona) and so I could honor those
who fought and died for our country on December 7, 1941.  I couldn't believe what I was
hearing! And  how surprised I was really shows, doesn't it???
Thanks to everyone at The Rosie O'Donnell Show!!
I gave Rosie a huge hug and then she thanked www.expedia.com for the trip for my
family to go to Pearl Harbor. I would like to send a huge thank you to
www.expedia.com too!!! My family would probably never be able to see Pearl Harbor,
and I thank expedia.com for being so generous and sponsoring this trip for my
parents, my two brothers, my sister and me, it will mean so much to all of us!!!
I then went back to sit down and watch the rest of the show!! As soon as I got back to
my seat I said to my mom "Some jacket, huh mom???" And we both laughed at that!
After the show, I thanked everyone a hundred times and they had a car waiting
downstairs for us to go back to the airport!!! I couldn't believe this one either......
...they had a HUGE white stretch limo
waiting for us to go to the airport!! Here's
a picture of the inside of it and it was
beautiful!! There were even lights on the
ceiling!! Leaving NYC in a stretch
limo....doesn't get much better than that!!
We were in the limo calling everyone
back home to tell them what happened,
we even called Sasha too!! We got to the
airport around 1:00 p.m., but our plane
didn't leave for Pittsburgh until 4:00 p.m. It
never did stop raining the whole time we
were there and wait until you hear the
ending of the story!!!
I was sort of sad to leave, because there were so many things that I wish I could have
seen or done, but hopefully somehow, someday I'll get to visit New York City again!!
We called home again and told everyone that we were at the airport and we should
get home around 6:00 p.m.  All we had to do now was wait and I think that is the worst
part! While we were in the airport we were watching the news and they said that
there were really bad storms hitting almost the whole eastern half of the country.  It
never stopped raining while we were there, but it wasn't really raining that hard.  So at
about 3:30 we got on the plane to head home.  We started down the run-way and for
some reason, after a few minutes we stopped.  Of course they never tell you anything
right away, so we had no idea what was going on.  Finally, the pilot said that he had to
turn around and take us back to the airport because air traffic control would not allow
us to take off!!! And I still had no idea why!! So back to the airport we went!! When we
got inside, we called home and told them what we knew.  My dad said that the storms
were really bad and they were everywhere so maybe that was why.  By now it was
probably about 4:30 and they had no idea how long we would be.  As we sat there
watching the flight screens and every flight was either getting cancelled or it was
really delayed!! Every hour our flight was getting delayed again and finally my mom
called home and said she was renting a car and driving home!!  Well, I didn't think it
was a bad idea, I mean she drives me all over the place to go to the events that I'm
invited to, so I figured we would make it!! Everyone at home kept telling her to wait that
our flight would get us home sooner or later.  After five or six delays our flight was
finally cancelled, now I was ready to drive home cause I figured we were stuck!! The
airlines told us that they were going to drive us over to JFK Airport and that we could
probably get a flight out of there at 9:15 (a bigger plane that could take off through the
storms).  We found out that even though it wasn't raining that hard that the storms,
higher in the sky were really bad and that's why we couldn't take off.  Well, at 9:15 our
flight out of JFK was DELAYED and I couldn't take no more!! I think I was really scared
by this time because they said that we would take off, but I knew that the storms were
bad and I didn't want to go in the storms and I told my mom I wasn't getting on a plane.
Finally, at 10:00 p.m. we board this HUGE USAirways plane and sat on the run-way,
waiting for clearance to take off.  My mom said that she doesn't ever think that she
has seen me so scared before and as we began to take off she put her arm around
me and kept telling me that everything would be fine.  We hit a little turbulence and my
mom said that one tear came down my face....then she said that she knew that
somewhere, somehow I had 58,226 people (the men and women who are on The
Wall) looking after me and that nothing was going to happen.  They really must have
been with me that night and finally at 1:40 a.m. we pulled in home and I was really glad
to be there! Now I somehow have to make a flight to Hawaii.....but I guess I'll have a
few people looking out for me then too!!!
Please visit expedia.com for everything you need to travel. They have been so great to me and I am very
thankful for what they have done for my family and I.
